THE POSITION

The Network Azure Cloud Architect will work closely with other product engineers, architects and developers to build highly reliable products.  The Development Operations Group manage the entire Microsoft Azure Cloud environment for the company’s development and as such we’ll rely on your experience to help us build out the automated, shining beacon of best-practice infrastructure that we need, and your role will be supported by the teams of top-notch developers, support engineers and the entire organization to deliver the best of breed products and services to our clients.

QUALIFICATION

• 10+ years network architecture experience​
• Networking and related concepts and protocols such as Ethernet, wireless networking, LTE, TCP/IP protocols, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP routing, VPNs, VLANs, link aggregation groups, ECMP, Hybrid and SD-WANs, and the OSI reference model. Internet architecture, routing operations, colocation, Internet exchanges, CDNs, and DNS 
• Carrier services such as Layer 3 and Layer 2 MPLS VPNs. 
• The practical functionality of various network elements—routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimization devices, DNS servers, authentication servers, server network interfaces. 
• Strong experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-based networking services
• Strong Architecture knowledge, experience with microservices architecture. 
• Strong experience documenting standards and best practices. 
• A solid grasp of the programming tools at their disposal and knowledge of the time and place to use each one 

• Working experience with network configuration management (e.g., Ansible/Puppet/Chef/DSC) 
• Working experience with monitoring (e.g., OMS/APM) and notification systems
• Strong/Expert knowledge of cloud provider IaC templates (e.g., Cloud Formation/ARM) 
• Working knowledge of Terraform HCL 
• Strong knowledge of scripting and development languages (e.g., PowerShell/Bash/Python) 
• Pragmatic problem-solving abilities dealing with complex systems 
• Comfort wearing lots of hats in a heterogeneous environment: working with web servers, databases, product software, dashboards, and various IaaS systems and PaaS resources 
• Ability to deliver long-term, repeatable IaC solutions that incorporate directly into an overall CI/CD process.  
• Strong knowledge of industry-standard CI/CD practices (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines/GitHub Actions) 
• Expert knowledge of container provisioning and management (Docker/Kubernetes) Significant depth of experience architecting the underlying Kubernetes environment (e.g., network plugins, CNI, container runtime, worker node operating system) 
• Significant depth of experience with Kubernetes platform architecture. (e.g., ingress controllers, services, pods, deployments, daemon sets) 
• Significant depth of experience architecting the underlying Kubernetes environment (e.g., network plugins, CNI, container runtime, worker node operating system) 
• Working experience with Kubernetes monitoring (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana) 
• Working experience with Kubernetes scanning tools (e.g., Aqua/BridgeCrew) 
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes deployment tools (e.g., GitOps/Helm) 
• Working knowledge of custom resource definitions 
• Working knowledge of developing and maintaining operators 
• Provisioning and capacity planning 
• Cloud Networking (Azure VNets, AWS VPCs) 
• Strong security/audit awareness 
• Operationalization of solutions from Development POCs through Production
