Senior DevOps Cloud Engineer Full Time Permanent

THE POSITION

We are looking for experienced, levelheaded DevOps Engineer who likes to do things the right way and likes to build systems for their team to do things the right way.  We want you to join our Cloud Enablement team under Development Enterprise Architecture and work to define our cloud environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with other product engineers, architects, and developers to build highly reliable products. As such, we’ll rely on your experience to help us build out the automated, shining beacon of best-practice infrastructure that we need. Your role will be supported by teams of top-notch developers, support engineers, and the entire organization to deliver the best of breed products and services to our clients.

QUALIFICATION

• At least 7+ years of computing experience, knowledge, and excitement about the terrain and 3+ years of direct Azure and AWS experience
• A solid grasp of the programming tools at their disposal and knowledge of the time and place to use each one
• Working experience with configuration management (e.g., Ansible/Puppet/Chef/DSC) 
• Working experience with monitoring (e.g., OMS/APM) and notification systems 
• Strong/Expert knowledge of cloud provider IaC templates (e.g., Cloud Formation/ARM) 
• Working knowledge of Terraform HCL 
• Strong knowledge of scripting and development languages (e.g., PowerShell/Bash/Python) 
• Pragmatic problem-solving abilities dealing with complex systems 
• Comfort wearing lots of hats in a heterogeneous environment: working with web servers, databases, product software, dashboards, and various IaaS systems and PaaS resources 
• Ability to deliver long-term, repeatable IaC solutions that incorporate directly into an overall CI/CD process. 
• Strong knowledge of industry-standard CI/CD practices (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines/GitHub Actions) 
• Strong Architecture knowledge, experience with microservices architecture.
• Strong commitment to standardization. 
• Strong experience documenting standards and best practices.  
• Expert knowledge of container provisioning and management (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Strong knowledge of software development best practices.

Significant Kubernetes experience including: 

• Significant depth of experience with Kubernetes platform architecture. (e.g., ingress controllers, services, pods, deployments, daemon sets)
• Significant depth of experience architecting the underlying Kubernetes environment (e.g., network plugins, CNI, container runtime, worker node operating system)
• Working experience with Kubernetes monitoring (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana) 
• Working experience with Kubernetes scanning tools (e.g., Aqua/BridgeCrew) 
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes deployment tools (e.g., GitOps/Helm) 
• Working knowledge of custom resource definitions 
• Working knowledge of developing and maintaining operators 

Experience & Skills that directly align our needs within the Azure tech stack, specifically expertise and knowledge of: 

• Provisioning and capacity planning 
• Cloud Networking (Azure VNets, AWS VPCs) 
• Strong security/audit awareness 
• Operationalization of solutions from Development POCs through Production 
• Vulnerability and patch management 
• Azure/AWS IaaS and PaaS, including the delivery of: 
• Cloud provider virtual machines (VMs, EC2)
• Service Fabric 
• Managed web applications (ASE, Beanstalk) 
• Managed Kubernetes (AKS, EKS) 
• Managed databases (SQL, CosmosDB, DynamoDB, RDS) 
• Azure AD 
• Managed logging and monitoring (Application Insights, OMS, CloudWatch) 
• Global Traffic Manager 
• Managed Redis cache
