Description

We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst who will leverage a thorough understanding of accounting operations and who will be central to the financial planning and analysis function. You will play an important role in financial analysis, budgeting and forecast, leading projects, supporting cross-functional and business initiatives, monitoring and managing financial performance, and implementing finance strategies to help the company achieve its business goals. Responsibilities

• Be responsible for various aspects of the month-end close process, including posting journal entries as needed, reviewing journal entries, accruals, fixed asset additions and disposals, project expenses, proposing and monitoring corrections for accounting during month end close
• Work with the business areas to develop budgets, forecasts, variances analyses against budgets for projects and other departments
• Undertake a monthly proactive review of costs; flag early any changes to be inputted into the forecast based on actual results
• Prepare and present accurate monthly summary of expenses with concise action-oriented commentary and analysis to department management
• Establish and maintain effective relationships across the business to understand the business and the primary drivers, goals, and the needs of partners and internal customers
• Support decision making across the business by providing insightful financial analysis, interpretations, support, tools and recommendations; and clearly communicate results and recommendations
• Develop, monitor and report on financial metrics that ensure financial performance
• Evaluate processes and controls to make recommendations for improvement; lead accounting projects to improve efficiency and control environment, including management of AP process, maintenance of fixed asset subledger and reconciliation against IT inventory
• Act as the finance subject matter expert in cross-functional initiatives such asthe GL and billing system development
• Rotate with other members to different accounting functions to gain proficiency and maintain currency in the tasks and act as effective backup for other team members whenever required
• Act as backup to the daily N$M and A$M process (industry settlement process) as needed
• As a senior member of the team, provide guidance, assistance, and supervision to other team members

Must Have

• Post-secondary education specializing in Accounting or Finance, with accounting professional designation strongly preferred
• 3+ years of corporate financial analysis and planning experience
• Thorough understanding of accounting operations, processes and controls
• Strong financial acumen and analytics skills, combined with a strong desire to understand the business and ability to apply financial concepts to analyze and understand business results
• Ability to work collaboratively with the business, and within the accounting team to support other members, and to deliver within prescribed deadlines
• Ability to communicate analyses and findings to finance management and business management when required
• Strong sense of professionalism and ownership, attention to detail, a high standard of quality and pride in the work product
