The company provides global end-to-end trade processing, portfolio operations, and data management to support Investment-related activities of an international finance firm. the company’s mission is to provide quality service with highly disciplined operations; deliver responsive support for the investment process, new products, and instruments; be responsive to changing economic, regulatory, and risk environment; manage and deliver quality data in accordance with “SMART” data principles.
The mission of the Data Management function within the company is to process and deliver standardized and centralized security reference, pricing, and corporate action data that serves as the single source of data for all relevant applications and processes, at the best cost.
The department’s objectives are to:
Expected to self-managed and independently prioritize own work as well as work for global project team members; escalate issues appropriately. Be the subject matter expert and represent company in cross functional/global/complex projects. Lead internal/cross functional/global projects, perform research/analysis, facilitate discussions to reach consensus, coordinate responses, document outcome, train global team, effectively communicate to all levels within company and external vendors. Mentor and share knowledge with global team members. Be the escalation point and own critical production issues. Participate in daily production support as needed.
Responsibilities:
• Provide support to colleagues in day-to-day operation and production support tasks when call upon
• Lead the research and analysis of security master related data in support of the creation / maintenance of company’s specific data elements
• Ensure data provided fits company’s global needs
• Represent company as subject matter experts in cross-functional / global projects
• Facilitate discussions to establish consensus and agreement with a win-win focus in mind
• Lead, facilitate, coordinate and project manage the research, analysis, implementation, documentation and training of new business requirements/projects (e.g. new instruments, new/change regulatory requirements, new systems implementation) globally
• Require to motivate a diversified (cross function, cross location) group of project team members and create an open and healthy project environment for project team members to deliver desired outcome
• Establish and continually refine global support model while ensuring unique regional business needs are addressed
• Ensure operation procedures are documented, shared with and cross-train the global team
• Perform independent research, review and analysis of financial statements, organizational structure, business model, operational risks, performances and securities / financial statements issued by organizations we invest in
• Validate and ensure data override requests conform to company’s Data Standard; conduct research/analysis and escalate issue to appropriate Data Governance bodies as needed
• Provide oversight for the standardization, acquisition, maintenance and quality assurance on data that company has ownership and stewardship responsibilities.
• Proactively contribute ideas, research and recommend continuous improvement opportunities (e.g. data standard enhancements, streamline / automate daily operations processes)
• Lead approved continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide oversight to ensure data integrity in systems we support and that data are reconciled across these systems
• Serve as a mentor to Analysts and Administrators in the global Data Operations Team
• Provide guidance by sharing knowledge and experience with the team
• Provide feedback to location-managers on performance of global team members he/she interacts with
• Research in new security instruments, lead the creation of support procedures and train global team
• Liaise and build strong business relationship with global colleagues within company, data vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters) and application vendors (e.g. Eagle, BlackRock)
• Proactively identify potential operational risks, suggest mitigation strategy to manager and lead the implementation of the agreed upon mitigation strategy
• Act as subject matter expert and the escalation point in production issues pertaining to company
• Own critical production issues and ensure these issues are resolved accurately and efficiently.
Requirements:
• Minimum 4-6 years’ securities industry experience
• Excellent knowledge of investment products globally is required
• Knowledge of market data services such as Bloomberg and Reuters is required
• Must have pervious knowledge and work experience with data management applications (e.g. CADIS, Eagle PACE)
• Trading applications (e.g. Charles River, Aladdin)
• Portfolio administration applications (e.g. Eagle STAR, Portia, FMC) and fund accounting applications
• Must have a good understanding of the end-to-end investment services processes such as trade entry, trade process, settlement, valuation, corporate action processing and fund account
• Must have a strong understanding on the impact of different characteristics of a security has on downstream data consumers and business functions (e.g. Compliance, Risk, Performance)
• Must have a big picture view and deep data / process / business flow knowledge across systems company used
