Responsibilities

Day-to-Day (30%):

  • Provide data quality management expertise to business and IT on best practices
  • Develop and maintain data quality profiling and dashboards within the Informatica data management toolset
  • Represent business interests in identifying, prioritizing and resolving data related issues
  • Facilitate the investigation into root cause of data quality issues by working with Stewardship and IT teams
  • Provide leadership and support to the team pertaining to data management technology utilization and capabilities
  • Coordinate and lead the execution of tasks required to service the business from a data quality perspective
  • Train, teach and mentor other team members to support internal growth and team success

Governance and Control (25%):

  • Ensure changes to data quality rules are documented and updated in the Enterprise Business Glossary
  • Manage the process of promoting data quality rules from development into the production environment
  • Establish and maintain data quality management best practices, standards, guidelines and processes
  • Deliver data management and governance reporting and metrics for tracking levels and progress
  • Support the development, communication and adoption of Data Management policies and principles

Risk and Compliance (15%):

  • Ensure data quality management processes adhere to related company policies, standards and guidelines
  • Ensure data profiling solutions identified by stakeholders as risk monitoring controls are maintained, documented and fully operational to support related business processes
  • Participate in Risk, Audit, Compliance and Regulatory requests for the D&A team as required
  • Participate in compliance action plans identified by Audit to ensure they are addressed in a timely manner

Projects (15%):

  • Provide data quality management expertise and data profiling services to business and IT stakeholders
  • Work closely with business and IT to ensure new data quality requirements are understood and documented effectively
  • Ensure data quality practices are aligned with new technology/solutions
  • Ensure appropriate Data Stewardship involvement for data quality reviews and signoffs
  • Support data management best practices and governance controls within the SDLC and PMO methodology

Technology (15%)

  • Work with technology vendors and IT resources to ensure that the technology environment is operational, troubleshooting any production outages or defects
  • Research new functionality and capabilities within existing tools, helping to plan for future enablement
  • Work with internal and external IT partners during upgrades or technology enhancements
  • Plan and lead the execution of technology enhancements, as well as the integration with source systems and the data warehouse

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Technology, Business Administration or equivalent (university an asset)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working within a regulated Canadian Financial Institution
  • Demonstrated understanding of data management principles and practices
  • Proven experience with data quality management procedures
  • Risk and Compliance familiarity within the financial services industry
  • Experience with Informatica data management software
  • Experience with S4 HANA, SAP data management software
  • Proficiency in Power BI
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud Modern Data Warehouse architecture

Skills   

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data management practices including data quality profiling and reporting, issue remediation, data governance, metadata, ETL/ELT, etc.
  • Technical proficiency and aptitude using and/or learning data management and reporting tools such as Informatica IDQ, Informatica Axon, SAP DQM, SAP Data Services, Power BI, SQL, SAS, etc.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving and issue resolution skills
  • Solution-focused, takes proactive initiative on priorities
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with continuous attention to quality
  • Able to multi-task and flourish in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, presentation, collaboration, and relationship building skills with different business and technical roles and departments
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and professional maturity
