Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of financial reporting, analysis, and general accounting tasks. This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for growth and professional development within a dynamic and fast-paced transportation company.
Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management.
• Facilitate month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and adherence to internal controls.
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audit processes, providing support and documentation as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and procedures.
• Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as assigned by management.
• Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry standards and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 2-3 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Working towards CPA designation or certification is an asset.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, Python and Power BI is an asset.
• Familiarity working with MS Power Platform suite of products in addition to generative AI products beyond CoPilot
• Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Accounting software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide insights.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is preferred but not required.
