Description

Primary responsibility of this role is to develop, maintain and provide design guidelines on native Mobile based applications. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of software development best practices and methodologies to the team.

The candidate will be responsible for coordinating the design, implementation and verification of the applications, working closely with the business analysts to understand the processes, and advice on best practices for design and implementation to enhance the process. The individual will be spending significant time in ideating with business stakeholders and mentoring other developers within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership to a team of Mobile developers to design, develop, deliver, and maintain native mobile apps
• Lead the design of new and existing applications, feature requests and projects, defining overall application design, and the future state.
• Communicate and negotiate, and coordinate with technology, and business stakeholders on prioritization of tactical and strategic technology initiatives, as well as monitor the entire project process
• Provide a thorough understanding of internet security threats and risk management, and advice on application development standards.
• 70% development, 30% leadership

Qualifications

• 10 years of IT and 6+ years of experience in developing mobile applications – iOS using XCode, Swift 2.0 and higher, Android 4.0 and higher using Android Studio or Eclipse
• Experience in cross-platform development using either, XCode, Native Android, and Ionic
• Experience consuming RESTful services from within a mobile app, using the appropriate methodology for the selected framework (native vs cross-platform)
• Possess thorough understanding of mobile application architectures and Mobile UI / UX design experience
• Knowledge of front-end web technologies including HTML5, CSS/JavaScript/jQuery, AJAX, Angular, etc.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology is essential
• Working experience with SVN/Git, Azure DevOps is an asset
• Experience within Consulting (Insurance or Telecom clients) industry is an asset
• Prior experience in Team Lead role is an asset
