Description

We are looking for a Controller to support the Director of Finance to develop and oversee our clients’ accounting departments. The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial professional with experience within the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, developing, and maintaining financial records for a group of related companies, including US based companies.
  • Utilizing financial/accounting software such as QuickBooks and advanced excel reporting.
  • Managing and monitoring all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements for privately held enterprises.
  • Preparing budgets, Cash flow Projections, Bank Reports, Journal Entries, Monthly Financial Reporting Package and Year End Working Papers
  • Managing and overseeing the accounting team workflow
  • Reviewing AP & AR aging, monitoring expenditures, costs, and P&L.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on the company’s financial data and performance.
  • Prepare T4’s, T4 summaries, 1099’s, WSIB, EHT, HST annual reconciliations.
  • Supporting/ Coordinating month-end and year-end close process
  • Reviewing and approving costing reports
  • Liaising with external auditors, lenders and legal counsel
  • Reporting directly to the Director of Finance.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of financial accounting experience
  • 5 years of management experience
  • CPA designation
  • Experience with the transportation industry
  • University degree in Accounting/Finance
